Singer Etta James dead at 73 Legendary singer Etta James died at 73 after a long fight with leukemia. The confirmation comes from her longtime friend and manager, Lupe De Leon. Etta James was one of the biggest voices of American music in '900. After her debut record "At last" in 1961, her music was the soundtrack for millions of people in the world.

She did many and important songs, such as "Something's Got a Hold of Me" "Good Rockin' Daddy" and "I Just wanna make love to you".

Etta James' health had been worst and worst in the last years. In 2010, her son Donto told reporters that James had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and in January 2011, court documents filed by her husband revealed that she was also undergoing treatment for leukemia.

Etta James released her debut album, "At Last," in 1961. She released her next studio album, "The Second Time Around," later that year. She was a legend for a lot of blues, soul and jazz singers. And she will forever be.
