Peter Buck (R.E.M.) working on a solo record with Mike Mills, Lenny Kaye - After a mere 8 months from the end of his band, Peter Buck is already at work on a solo record. R.E.M. called it a day last september, but guitarist has kept himself busy in this period. He continued to work with his side band The Baseball Project, a combo formed with Steve Wynn, Linda Pitmon and Steve McCaughey and devoted to sport-storytelling in songs.
Confirmation about the solo record, which has been already rumoured in the past few weeks, came today from the Facebook page of The Baseball Project: "Hard at work the last three days with BBP bassists extraordinaire Peter Buck and Mike Mills, making a Peter-led record in the BBP home haven of Type Foundry Studio in Portland with our main man Adam Selzer at the board. No baseball songs but with Lenny Kaye and Bill Rieflin in the band, and lots of friends dropping by, it is just the right kind of mayhem". The board post doesn't have an author (we can suppose it has been written by either Wynn or McCaughey) but also reveals some of the name involved in the record: long-time friend and colleague Mike Mills, bassist of R.E.M, but also Lenny Kaye, guitarist from the Patti Smith Group.
