GAC Breakfast Receives Rave Reviews from Fans at CMA Fest

- What single gal wouldn’t want to wake up with newcomer Kip Moore? If you were one of the lucky ladies to attend this year’s GAC Kick-Off Breakfast, you can check that off of your bucket list. The 5th annual GAC Kick-off Breakfast took place Wednesday June 6th at 7 a.m. –the unofficial start to CMA Music Festival. The event was held at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in downtown Nashville. Kip Moore, Thompson Square, Lauren Alaina, and Josh Turner performed at the sold-out affair. Guests were treated to a hearty country breakfast, musical performances, and meet and greets with all four artists. Kip Moore opened the show singing what he calls “the most special song [he’s] ever been a part of,” Crazy One More Time. Despite the early hour, Moore had the crowd engaged from the moment he sang his first note. He continued to engage the crowd singing the heartfelt Hey Pretty Girl, his semi-autobiographical tune, Reckless (Still Growin’ Up), and wrapped things up with his number one hit, Somethin’ Bout a Truck. For anyone in the crowd who was not already awake, this song did the trick. Married couple and duo, Thompson Square took the stage next. Though Keifer and Shawna Thompson have been married for about 11 years, their chemistry did not miss a beat. The pair heated things up with their top 10 hit, I Got You, followed by a Tammy Wynette and George Jones cover, and their current single, Glass. Finally, along with the crowd, they sang their number one hit, Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not. Lauren Alaina was next up. From the moment she stepped onto the stage, she had the crowd roaring with laughter –joking about how she could not sit down because of her short dress. She began by singing Tupelo, off of her debut album, Wildflower. She next educated the audience about the trouble with boys who do you wrong and followed it up with her song, I’m Not One of Them. During her passionate performance, she accidently poked a hole in the stage with her high heels. She had everyone rolling in the aisles. Alaina concluded her performance with the sweet ballad, Dirt Road Prayer, followed by her current single, Georgia Peaches. Before leaving the stage she insisted on showing host, Storme Warren the hole she poked in the floor. Once again, she had the crowd going. Josh Turner concluded the show, singing his hits Long Black Train, the song he claims jump started American Idol winner, Scotty McCreery’s career, Your Man, Would You Go With Me, Fire Cracker, Why Don’t We Just Dance, and his current single, Time is Love. Throughout the show, each act prior to Turner commented about the early hour. Having years of experience in the field, Turner admitted to the crowd that he has learned a few tricks over the years. He parked his tour bus outside and slept there the night before –allowing him to sleep in just a little longer. After the show fans were treated to a meet and greet with each artist –something that has never been done at a GAC breakfast before. In previous years, fans had to select two of the four artists to meet. It was a welcomed change by the entire crowd. ~Music Contributor KJ ...
