In a follow-up to our story yesterday, it turns out that Karen Klein has become a national media sensation, even if she doesn’t want all the attention.

Klein, a bus monitor from the Greece Central School District in New York, appeared on last night’s “Anderson Cooper.” During the show she read aloud statements of apology that she’s received from two students that were involved in the horrendous bus harassment that was caught on video. However, Klein refuses to accept the apologies, believing them to be insincere and motivated by the media attention and desire to get out of trouble. She would like to see all of the students involved suspended from sports for a year or given community service requirements. What do you think of her proposed punishment?
.
And in yet another twist of fate, the fund that was initially set up to collect $5,000 for a vacation for the 69-year-old woman has grown to over $500,000. The collection fund was set up by a 25-year-old Toronto nutritionist, Max Sidorov. Perhaps since she doesn’t know him, Klein is skeptical that she will ever see any of the money. Sidorov has said he will ensure the money gets to Klein, and with the focus of the internet and the media on this story, that’s probably true. Either way, Southwest Airlines has offered to send Klein and 9 guests to Disneyland, all expenses paid.

So what do you think of the way this story has turned out? What do you think of Klein’s suggested punishment for the kids involved? Has the “vacation fund” gotten out of hand and gone too far, or does Klein deserve a big break? Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think! ...
