Inspiral Carpets talk about the new songs

Clint Boon of Inspiral Carpets has talked about the new material the band is working on, after 16 years of hiatus. According to Boon the new songs are in the vein of The Vaccines, Kasabian, Interpol and fellow Manchester band Doves.

The keyboardist said the band recently started writing new songs after reuniting with original singer Stephen Holt. The move comes after singer Tom Hingley left the band over the summer: "The new songs we've just recorded already sound like classic Inspirals. But at the same time, I think it's as contemporary as The Vaccines, Interpol, Kasabian and Doves".
Of the new songs he added: "I think it's realising that life's short so best to crack on and knock out some more tunes while we can. There's still a lot of love in the world for this band of ours."

The band will hit the road in South America this month and Boon said they will announce their first UK gigs with Holt in the next couple of months.
