Gillespie wanted Bez to join Primal Scream

Bobby Gillespie wanted to replace Primal Scream's bassist Mani with Bez from The Happy Mondays. The story comes from Gillespie himself, speaking exclusively to magazine NME. But Bez has apparently refused to start this new adventure.

Mani is currently involved in the reunion of his original band, the legendary Stone Roses, together with Ian Brown and John Squire. So Gillespie has asked to dancer Bez to take his place in the Scottish band.

Bobby told to the press: "I was at an awards ceremony and Bez said to me, 'What are you gonna do now that Mani's gone?' and I said, 'Can you play the bass, Bez?' How cool would that be? Bass and maracas! He was like, 'I'd love to do it Bob, but I can't fucking play!'".
