Bruno Mars is 'artist of the year' for Billboard

Bruno Mars, after scoring Grammy nominations - including record and song of the year for "Locked Out of Heaven" - was awarded with another prestigious title. He's indeed, "artist of the year" for Billboard.

Even if the trail of competitors was big,Mars' sophomore album "Unorthodox Jukebox" managed to stay, steadily, on the Billboard 200 (following its No. 2 debut last December). The album was in the top 20 every week since its release, through September 14 and hit No. 1 in its 12th week. According to Nielsen SoundScan, it has sold 1.8 million copies to date.

Moreover, the album generated three top 10 singles: "Locked Out of Heaven" (six weeks at No. 1), "When I Was Your Man" (No. 1 for a week) and "Treasure" (No. 5).
