A new album after 20 years for The Inspiral Carpets

After 20 years, in 2014 we'll finally get a new album from The Inspiral Carpets. Their last full length, indeed, was released in 1994 ("Devil Hopping"), but in September they'll put out - via Cherry Red - a new self-titled album, with new material.

The self-titled album will also feature the two new tracks the band shared in the last couple of years: "You’re So Good For Me" (out on the band's Cow label in 2012) and "Fix Your Smile" (released on Tim Burgess' O Genesis label, recorded with original vocalist Stephen Holt, who rejoined in 2011.
Guitarist Graham Lambert commented: "Since 2011, we’ve steadied the ship and we’re sailing on. It’s been a breath of fresh air creating new songs with Stephen – his input has given us a fresh impetus. There was no sane logic why we didn’t do it a decade ago. Getting home from rehearsals and playing back a new song in the middle of the night is such a thrill. A new album seemed impossible a couple of years ago: now it’s a reality!".

On Record store Day 2014 (April 19), the band will also reissue the 1989 demo "Dung 4" on vinyl and CD - with the tracks on their 1987 "Cow" demo as a bonus.
