The Cribs plan to release two studio albums in 2014

The Cribs have big plans for their 2014: they are, indeed, working on two different studio albums.

Gary Jarman broke the news speaking to NME: "I feel like there's two sides to the band – a punk rock side and a poppy side – and we've always tried to balance them. The idea this time is to let them exist separately as different records". So what we can expect is the release of a punk album and a pop one by The Cribs.

Gary explained that the punk album  was born during sessions with Steve Albini - and the trio will return to Albini's studio later this year to finish the work. The pop album, on the other hand, was written during festival season; the recordings will begin later this month, in Portland. "The songs don't have names yet, but there are two in particular I'm really into", the bassist says. "I really think one of them is a pop smash. And there's one that's all fuzz bass and geek-rock style synth lines".
