Queen's 'Greatest hits' is the first album to sell 6 million copies in the UK

Queen's collection "Greatest hits" was released in 1981 but, according to U.K.'s Official Charts Company, it still regularly sells several thousand copies per week. Indeed it recently broke a record and became the first album ever to sell more than six million copies in the UK.

This way,  in theory, if all of the copies sold were still around and no one owned multiple copies, 9.5% of British population would own "Greatest hits".

The other four best selling albums in the UK are Abba's "Gold - Greatest Hits" (5.1 million), the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" (5.1 million), Adele's "21" (4.7 million) and Oasis' "What's the Story Morning Glory?" (4.6 million).
Queen also are on position number 10 with their "Greatest Hits II" (released in 1991), which sold 3.9 million copies.

Brian May commented: "Great news, AMAZING news from the Official Charts Company! Queen's 'Greatest Hits' which was released in 1981 has passed the 6 million mark in sales, which is incredible. I just want to say thanks to everyone who has supported us through the years, we hope to continue to serve you".
