New details emerge on the first US edition of Rock In Rio

More details are emerging on Rock In Rio’s Las Vegas festival due to take place over two weekends in May 2015.

According to Billboard the first edition of the festival to take place in the United States will feature an 80,000-capacity outdoor venue built right on the Vegas Strip by MGM, Cirque du Soleil and Yucapia. The three companies will foot the bill for the construction and will presumably use the venue for a variety of event during the rest of the year.

Rock In Rio is looking to create a premium festival experience which includes an amusement park on-site, a flying DJ booth and... wait for it... real toilets. No word on a line-up or pricing yet as tickets are set to go on sale in January 2015 : the festival is doing a big push on the media front to become better-known to the American public.

Rock In Rio is now closely tied to SFX Entertainment and so we can expect a big focus on electronic music to capitalise on the popularity of the genre as well as the rock and pop acts that Rock In Rio is already known for.
