Karen O announces solo record "Crush songs" out on September the 8th

Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has announced the upcoming release of her first solo record entitled “Crush songs” that will land in stores and online on the 8th of September.

The record will be released by Cult, the label founded by Julian Casablancas. Cult just recently announced having closed a marketing, distribution and licensing deal with Kobalt in a number of territories for its catalogue.

Karen O wrote on her website: “When I was 27 I crushed a a lot. I wasn’t sure I’d ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing LOVE CRUSADE. I hope they keep you company on yours.”

The artist had recently received an Oscar nomination for the track “The moon song” written together with director Spike Jonze for his movie “Her”. She had already collaborated with Jonze in the soundtrack of the movie “Where the wild things are”.
