Damon Albarn is writing a musical
Talking to the Daily Star, Damon Albarn unveiled his next move... a musical! The frontman of Blur and Gorillaz, indeed, explained: "It's funny for me to say, 'I'm writing a musical', but yes, that's what I'm doing next. It's something I've always wanted to do, because musicals are great when they're done well. It started out with the same subject matter but was going to be a leftfield, experimental opera. But it's lurched into a mainstream musical for families".
Since Albarn has already written two operas ("Dr Dee: An English Opera" and "Monkey: Journey To The West") a musical is not a shocking surprise; by the way this will have more mainstream appeal than that previous works.
In the same interview, then, Albarn also teased a possible return to the Gorillaz, saying, "I've found myself writing a lot of uptempo songs that sound like Gorillaz".
