Rogue website’s serial uploader pleads guilty to music copyright theft in UK

Richard Graham, a prolific music uploader to illegal website Dancing Jesus (pictured), has pleaded guilty to copyright theft at a British high court. He will be sentenced on 10 November.

Graham, from the UK region of Leicester, admitted at Newcastle Crown Court to uploading thousands of files to the rogue website without permission.

The illegally gained files included 8,000-plus pre-released music tracks.

Dancing Jesus became notorious for offering online links that made it easy to upload content to cyberlockers such as MediaFire, RapidShare and FileSonic.

But following combined investigations by the Copyright Protection Unit at music-industry trade body BPI, the City of London Police and the US’ Department of Homeland Security, Dancing Jesus was busted in 2011.

In January this year, Dancing Jesus founder Kane Robinson pleaded guilty to illegally distributing copyrighted music.
