Indie-Con 2014 to debate what to know to survive as an independent

Dan Le Sac (pictured), one half of British hip-hop duo Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, is among the confirmed speakers at this year’s Indie-Con, the conference dedicated to UK independent labels and artists.

Organised by AIM, the indies’ trade organisation, the event is taking place at Glazier’s Hall, London, on 18 November.

Other confirmed speakers include Kelly Chappel, director of talent, international, at concert-promotion giant Live Nation; Martin Mills, founder/chairman of major independent company Beggars Group; and Darius Van Arman, co-founder/joint owner of US independent label Secretly Group.

Indie-Con will take an in-depth look at the “key areas essential for running a successful independent music business, offering unrivalled networking and learning opportunities”, the organizers say. More than 300 indie acts and companies are expected to participate.

Among the topics and themes to be debated this year are Successful Music Funding; What is a Fair Artist Contract in 2014?; Opportunities to Get Independent Music on TV; Brits Abroad: Everything You Need To Know About International Showcasing; and Developing A successful Live Career For Your Artist.
