Omnifone and Guvera brave global expansion into Russia and Ukraine

UK-based Omnifone, the cloud-powered music platform provider, has enabled Guvera, the Australian-headquartered international music streaming service, to expand into Russia and the Ukraine.

It is a pretty significant move considering the military crisis that has seen Russia at political loggerheads with Ukraine.

But Guevera is working with Omnifone’s cloud MusicStation platform, which offers clients a catalogue of 38 million tracks that are currently available across 45 territories, to be a truly global service. It is expected grow geographically into more markets during the next year.

Via MusicStation, Guvera itself has become available in 16 countries on five continents in 12 months.

Among these countries are such high growth markets as the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia and Venezuela.

Moreover, the multi-platform format means Guvera offers on-demand access to millions of tracks via web browsers plus Android, iOS and Window Phone mobile devices at an economically viable price, says the company.

“As Omnifone continues to evolve our platform and scale, we are overcoming physical barriers so that our customers can seamlessly deliver music to more users on more devices around the world, quickly,” says Jeff Hughes, Omnifone’s CEO. “This enables our partners to hit the ground running when entering new markets like Russia and the Ukraine with a superior on-demand music offering.”

Michael De Vere, vice chairman at Guvera, adds: “Guvera stands behind the concept of ‘programmed globally, tuned locally’. Whilst this format helps to support local artists, users also benefit through being able to discover the music that matters most to them.”
