Kobalt clients, including Charli XCX, sweep up armful of 2015 Grammy nods

International music services and publishing firm Kobalt Music Group is ending 2014 on a high note in preparation for next year’s Grammy Awards.

Clients signed to the group have snapped up 63 nominations combined across 35 of the 83 award categories for the 57th annual Grammy event. These include multiple nods for works featuring or by Britain’s current hottest recording stars, including Charli XCX (pictured), Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith.

Kobalt will also be paying close attention to other artists on its roster, including Max Martin and Paul Epworth, who have both been nominated for Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical.

Johnny McDaid is being tipped for the Album Of The Year gong for his contribution to Ed Sheeran’s X, as is Eg White for the Sam Smith hit album In The Lonely Hour.

In the Record Of The Year category, nominated Kobalt creatives include producer/songwriters Max Martin and Johan ”Shellback” Schuster for Taylor Swift’s single Shake It Off from her much talked about album 1989. In the same category, Kobalt songwriter Kurtis McKenzie is getting recognition for his role in Fancy, the nominated hit by Iggy Azalea. The song, released in February this year, also thrust featuring artist Charli XCX into the international limelight.

Additionally, Martin and Schuster are being considered for the Song Of The Year category, while Kobalt residents Charli XCX, McKenzie, Martin, Savan Kotecha and Dr Luke are in three of the five nominations for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

The ever enigmatic singer-songwriter Beck, on his own, is a contender in five nomination categories: Album Of The Year, Best Rock Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance.

Songs and songwriters backed by Kobalt have equally been selected for the following: Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Country Album, Best Reggae Album, plus Dance/Electronic Music, R&B, Rap and Jazz.
