Jury finds Apple not guilty in decade-long antitrust trial

It has taken the best part of a decade, but Apple has come out on top in the antitrust trial that has been heard in an Oakland court over the past two weeks.

The jury found that Apple was not guilty of purepusefully harming competitors by removing legitimately purchased music files from owner's iPods following the iTunes 7.1 update.

The trial, which could have cost Apple upwards of $1 billion, made headlines all over the world, and became even more of a page turner by the only two plaintiffs dropped out of the suit at the last second and had to be replaced.

Apple argued, successfully at this point, that the software update was meant to improve user experience, and that although some users did experience the removal of music purchased at competing stores such as RealNetworks it was not something Apple purepusefully orchestrated.
