After 18 years, Faith No More rise again via Ipecac-PIAS deal

Faith No More (pictured), one of the US’ die-hard alternative metal bands, are releasing their first studio album in 18 years on Reclamation Recordings, their own imprint, with US distribution through California-based Ipecac Recordings.

Supported by a North American tour, the album is due out in 2015. It will also receive international distribution thanks to a recently signed deal by Ipecac and PIAS, the Belgium-headquartered multi-territory recording label, distribution and licensing company.

Starting 1 January, PIAS will handle the album’s marketing and promotion through its extensive network of offices worldwide, apart from North America.

The first single from the album is Motherfucker, which came out on 8 December. The band’s past hit singles include Ashes to Ashes, Midlife Crisis and Epic (see video below).

The Faith No More arrangement is part of a deal that sees all Ipecac’s releases in all countries outside of North America being handled through PIAS’ Artist & Label Services subsidiary, which will provide the marketing, sales and distribution.

For the uninitiated, ipecac is the name of vomit-inducing syrup medicine. Ipecac Recordings was launched in April 1999 by Greg Werckman (ex-label manager of Alternative Tentacles and ex-executive of Mercury Records) and Mike Patton (Faith No More singer). Patton was also the founder and lead singer of experimental rock band Mr. Bungle.

Adrian Pope, managing director at PIAS Artist & Label Services, says: “We are very proud to start a relationship with Ipecac at what will be one of the most exciting years in their history. The release of a new Faith No More album will be one of the highlights of next year for both existing and new fans.”
