Live Nation Labs closes as executives Garland and Kaplan exit

Live Nation has reportedly put an end to its “Live Nation Labs” experiment on December 31st.

Started in 2011 with the acquisition of data company Big Champagne, Live Nation Labs turned out to be an expensive way for the corporation to learn that “disruption” is just a word and that it does not easily translate into readily monetizable products.

The head of the project Eric Garland (acqui-hired with BigChampagne) has reportedly not renewed his contract for 2015 whilst executive Ethan Kaplan has already confirmed his exit.

In a parallel development Live Nation has also announced the closure of Boomrat, the dance music discovery acquired in July 2014, on January 15th.
