TV broadcasters worldwide snap up Depeche Mode playing live in Berlin

Independent distributor DCD Rights, a UK independent TV programming distributor, has secured broadcast deals worldwide for Depeche Mode: Live in Berlin, a landmark music special featuring the iconic UK electronic group (pictured) in concert.

Directed by the band’s long-time creative collaborator/filmmaker Anton Corbijn, Depeche Mode: Live in Berlin has been bought by TV networks from Latin America to China.

It is a Columbia Records production that captures the group’s live performance at the O2 World in Berlin during their global hit Delta Machine Tour. The tour supported the March 2013 release of their 13th studio album Delta Machine.

Available in high definition as a 60-minute or 90-minute show, Depeche Mode: Live in Berlin has been acquired by the following broadcasters: YLE (Finland), Canal Satellite Digital (Spain), BSkyB (UK), VRT (Belgium); Polsat Media (Poland); Bollingen Digital (Russia, Baltic, CIS), Globosat (Brazil), DirecTV (Latin America), Segmento Directo (Latin America), Phoenix Satellite (China), HD Net (USA, Mexico, Caribbean), Foxtel (Australia) and WHD (Japan).

Rick Barker, DCD Rights’ head of sales, says: “Specials such as this one have historically proved popular with terrestrial broadcasters for their primetime schedules. They are now picking up a host of new revenue streams through digital providers, offering an opportunity for fans to access and enjoy outstanding performances from their favourite stars across multiple platforms and territories.”

Before you see the documentary, here is a chance to catch Heaven, one of the Delta Machine album’s popular tracks (below).
