Bauer’s Planet Rock gets the Blues Power new Sunday music radio show

Planet Rock, Bauer Radio’s award-winning UK rock-music radio station, is extending the amount of blues music played on the network with a new show called The Blues Power Sunday Brunch, which premieres on 1 February.

It will be a weekly show transmitted from 12pm to 1pm on DAB frequency via digital platforms such as Digital One, Sky, Virgin Media, Freesat and Planet Rock’s website. Listeners in the UK’s West Midlands region can also listen to the show on the FM frequency.

The station is famous for championing rock giants such as Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Queen, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Rush and Muse.

However, it has been paying homage to the roots of rock music, the US-originated traditional blues, with dedicated shows.

The new primetime weekend programme is also seen as an additional channel for supporting blues record labels and artists, ranging from established artists to the next generation of Blues acts. The presenter will be specialist Bernard Doherty.

The Blues Power Sunday Brunch is the station's second show devoted to the genre. Brand-wise, it will be marketed as the mainstream version of Blues Power, an existing Planet Rock show that goes out on Thursday evenings at 7pm and on Saturdays at midnight.

Planet Rock’s music and content director Ric Blaxhill is spearheading the new show.
