Scott Borchetta signs with the Creative Artists Agency

Scott Borchetta, the President and CEO of Big Machine Group, has signed an agreement with the agency CAA - one of Hollywood’s top talent agencies - THR reports. The agency will help in Borchetta’s quest to create opportunities across film, television and theatre.

The executive has boosted his profile by appearing as a mentor in American Idol’s 14th season and Big Machine will release the winner’s album together with Universal Music. The label is also heavily involved with ABC’s Nashville show.

Over the past few weeks Borchetta has generated headlines due to the fact that he has reportedly been working on selling Big Machine. Initially the sale price was reported as being $200 million but, following rumours of interest from Apple and - bizarrely - Snapchat - that price appears to have soared to $350 million

The label is due one more album from Taylor Swift before her contract is up for renewal and has the rights to her back catalogue, it also houses names like Florida Georgia Line, Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw and The Band Perry.
