Amazon Prime Music unveils iOS redesign, Prime Stations feature

Amazon Prime Music’s iOS app was updated yesterday, unveiling a new design that streamlined the user experience, enabling users to browse more efficiently, and a new feature called “Prime Stations”.

This will behave similarly to radio-like offerings on streaming services like Spotify and Rdio, allowing users to avoid having to choose a particular album/track.

The stations will offer unlimited skips and users will be able to choose between genre-led, artist-led or charts-based playlists.

Amazon Prime Music offers a limited catalogue of around a million tracks and doesn’t include a lot of the most recent releases, but it is included in the Amazon Prime membership which means that millions of users are already signed up to it by default and won’t have to pay a penny extra for access.

The music service launched in June 2014 in the United States and whilst presumably the company is working on its internationalisation it is not yet available in the UK.
