Academy of Country Music Awards: Miranda Lambert wins big with 4 awards

The 50th Academy of Country Music Awards took place last night in Arlington, Texas and Miranda Lambert cleaned house by winning three of the most prestigious awards: Song of the Year (for ‘Automatic’), Album of the Year (for ‘Platinum’), Female Vocalist of the Year and a milestone award for furthering the cause of country music. 

The other six milestone awards went to George Strait, Reba McEntire, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks and Kenny Chesney, prompting may heart-warming tributes and performances.

The awards were being broadcast on CBS and broke the Guinness World Records title for the highest attendance at an awards show since they were recorded at the AT&T Stadium in front of an audience of 70,252. 

Other winners in major categories included Jason Aldean for Male Vocalist of the Year, Florida Georgia Line as Vocal Duo of the Year,  Little Big Town as Vocal Group of the Year and Luke Bryan as Entertainer of the Year. Cole Swindell bagged the New Artist of the Year prize.

The Academy of Country music also announced that the next ACM Party for a Cause Festival will take place over three nights in April 2016 at the MGM Resorts Festival Grounds in Las Vegas.
