BandPage partners with StubHub to offer merchandise to ticket buyers

BandPage has announced a new partnership with StubHub, the world’s largest secondary ticketing marketplace owned by Ebay.

The integration means that fans buying tickets for a concert on StubHub will be prompted to buy additional items via BandPage’s merchandise engine. These could include traditional t-shirts and sweaters, but may extend to backstage access passes and meet-and-greet packages.

At the moment the integration is being tested in the US on artists such as OK Go and George Clinton, but the plan is to roll it out globally and to include bigger tours by the end of the year.

BandPage claims that the current integration of its merchandise engine on platforms like Spotify already enables some bands to make over $1,000 per day.

The partnership could prove particularly fruitful: when fans are in the process of buying tickets they are already in the mindset of spending quite a bit of money and are less likely to think twice about adding an extra item or two to their basket.

In addition to the merch sales, BandPage plans to target StubHub customers with highly targeted email offers and to provide musicians with insights on their fanbase.

Finally, StubHub will integrate BandPage's data within its artist profiles, which means that artists will have have control over their photos and biography on the site.
