Proper Music Distribution hires eMusic’s Kameil Sattar as new Head of Digital

Proper Music Distribution, one of the largest independent distributors in the UK, has announced the hire of eMusic’s Head of Label Relations Kameil Sattar as its new Head of Digital. 

Sattar will bring a wealth of relationships and experience gathered both at eMusic and at Pinnacle Records to drive the growth of Proper's digital division.

eMusic is a pioneering indie-minded service founded in 1998 (well before iTunes) that still commands a healthy following. The service announced last year that it would re-focus its efforts towards independent labels as it dropped the catalogues of the majors and of major-distributed indies it had carried since 2009. 

Esther Tewkesbury, Proper’s Head of Product and Marketing stated on Sattar's hire: 

“Her eclectic music taste and incredibly strong digital background, coupled with her involvement in indie distribution over the years made Kameil the obvious choice for the role. She is a great addition to the team, bringing an invaluable amount of knowledge and experience with her.”

As Head of Digital, Sattar will work on developing the current digital delivery proposition and at ways to grow revenues through promotional innovation and catalogue development.
