Chris Squire, bassist and co-founder of Yes, dead at 67

Chris Squire, bassist and co-founder of legendary prog rock band Yes, died in the night between June 27 and 28. He was 67 and just over a month after he had revealed that he was suffering from a rare form of leukemia.

In May, Squire revealed that he was recently diagnosed with acute erythroid leukemia, a condition which would force him to miss the band's summer co-headlining tour with Toto, marking the first time in the band's history that Yes performed without their longtime bassist. Squire was also the only member of the group to feature on every studio album.

The news of his death was broke by current Yes keyboardist Geoff Downes, who tweeted:

Yes then confirmed Squire's death on their official Facebook page:

In addition to his work with Yes, Squire was involved in other side and solo projects: il 1975 he released a solo LP called "Fish Out of Water"; in 200 he also teamed with Yes part-time guitarist Billy Underwood for their Conspiracy project and, more recently, formed Squackett with Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett.
