Garageband uploads straight to Apple Music, SoundHound integrates service on its iOS app

More Apple Music news today as it has emerged that the latest update of popular music-making software Garageband enables artists to publish tracks directly to Apple Music Connect.

This move is sure to appeal to smaller artists who would see a benefit in pushing new demos directly to their fans. However, artists won’t receive royalties on these uploads and so more established musicians will likely be weary to do the same.

However, the feature need not be used to publish music, since Garageband allows for podcast recordings for example, so it could also be used to keep fans up to date on what is happening on the road, or on how the recording of that new album is doing, which would be a much easier and hassle-free approach to take since it would not bring musical copyrights into the equation.

The feature would be especially appealing on mobile if and when the ability to export to Apple Music Connect is extended to Garageband’s iOS app.

On a different front it looks like Apple is already busy forging new partnerships for Apple Music, as SoundHound is the first third party to announce a full integration of Apple Music into its iOS app.

From today, SoundHound users who are looking for a track will be presented with the option to listen to it on Apple Music alongside other services like Spotify.

This type of third party integration is essential for Apple Music to be seen as a serious contender that won’t in any way ‘limit’ the experience of its users when compared to rivals Spotify, Deezer and Rdio.
