Taylor Swift's "1989" leads 2015 vinyl sales so far

Taylor Swift's chart topper "1989" is really popular amongst vinyl-lovers.

Nielsen Music released their mid-year charts today (July 2), and Taylor Swift’s "1989" is unsurprisingly the year’s best-selling album, with 1.33 million in pure album sales and 2.01 million in equivalent album units. The album has also been the best-selling vinyl record of the year so far too. Swift shook the vinyl market with 34,000 vinyl records sold since its release in December. Sufjan Stevens’ "Carrie & Lowell", is just around the corner with 32.000 copies. Vinyl sales only made up about 2.5 percent of Swift’s total album sales so far, while vinyl makes up about 30 percent of Stevens’ total album sales.

Vinyl sales have increased 38.4% in 2015 from this time last year, selling a total of 5.6 million records so far.
