Lovie Awards finalists unveiled (including Imogen Heap, Vice, Elton John...): vote now

The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) unveiled the Finalists in The 5th Annual Lovie Awards, the world’s only pan-European honour for online excellence across Websites, Online Advertising, Internet Video, Social and Mobile & Apps. The Lovie Awards is the European sister of the global Webby Awards.

The 2015 finalists include some of Europe’s most innovative websites and apps like Vice News, Dazed, Tate, and Wire, plus some of the region’s smartest digital brands and celebrities like Volvo, Heineken, VSauce (Michael Stevens), IKEA and UEFA.

The Finalists are now open to the public for voting in The People’s Lovie Awards. Anyone can choose their favourite Finalists starting today at www.peopleslovie.eu. Voting will close on Thursday, October 8.

Members of IADAS, the judging body of The Lovie Awards, include Stephen Fry, “Father of Wi-Fi” Vic Hayes, Chester Chipperfield (Special Projects, Apple), Dan Howell (danisnotonfire), Eric Wahlforss (Founder, Soundcloud), Lauren Laverne, Founder of Buzzcar Robin Chase, Jonathan Benassaya (Co-Founder, Deezer and StreamNation) and Elke Klinkhammer (CCO, McCann Germany). 

The winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 13 and celebrated with a hallmark awards show at The British Film Institute, Southbank, London on 12th November 2015.

This year’s Website Finalists continue to showcase the critical role the Internet plays in everything from commerce to arts and culture. Finalists include Design Museum, Elton John AIDS Foundation, Eurosport, Google Year in Search, UN Global Happy Party, Doctors Without Borders, weekend4two, and Foxtons.

In the Mobile category, apps and mobile web experiences currently captivating the European audience include Toca Boo, MTV Play, Laundrapp, Bike & Camp Denmark, Art Beekns, Krumb, and connected products like Libero Babybuzz, Hackaball, Flic and Tesla Watch Apps.

Internet Video Finalists in The Lovie Awards elegantly illustrate Europe’s creative prowess. Finalists include Look Up from Gary Turk and Kendall Jenner’s Burn Book from Dazed, both competing in Viral Video, and Footballers United by Somethin’ Else for The BBC in Documentary.

Many of the Online Advertising Finalists received millions of social interactions, including 805 Million Names (Forsman & Bodenfors, Sweden), Nestle Fitness Bra Cam (Soleil Noir/McCann, France); McDonald’s Big App (Good Morning, Norway); #Bendgate (J. Walter Thompson, London); UCL Home Trophy Tour (Heimat, Berlin) and Bike Mode (N=5, Amsterdam).

The Social category continues to grow as brands and content creators innovate across various platforms. Finalists in Social include YouTube #DontPanicButton featuring Zoella, #GOTerritory for Game of Thrones, #Reflections for Rayban, #GayisOk from LUSH, UN Global Happy Party, IKEA Art Event, and Paddington Bear in Animals, which is a new category in 2015.
