Bruce Springsteen unveils long-awaited "The River" box set

Bruce Springsteen has unveiled the release of a special edition of “The River”, his fifth studio album.

The box set, entitled "The Ties That Bind: The River Collection", will include four CDs and three DVDs, featuring the original single disc album, outtakes, a documentary, a live concert and another 10 songs recorded at around that time.

“The River” was released in 1980 and reached N.1 on the Billboard 200, and N.2 on the UK Albums charts. In the US, it sold over five million copies.

The documentary included in the box set includes footage from that period interspersed with Springsteen’s acoustic renditions of some of the album’s songs such as “Independence Day” and “Point Blank”.

The concert included was shot in Tempe, Arizona in November 1980 and is a 2h 40m marathon featuring Springsteen and the E Street Band in a high-energy performance.

“The River” box set will be released on the 4th of December, and is sure to make it to the top of the Christmas list for fans of The Boss.
