BMG announces S-Curve records acquisition

BMG has made its third record label acquisition with New York-based S-Curve records. This follows the acquisitions of Vagrant Records and Rise Records, based in LA and Portland respectively.

S-Curve will retain its current Founder and President Steve Greenberg, whilst the label’s general manager Milo Pacheco will be moving to BMG, working towards building the company’s pop offering.

BMG is flexing its muscle as a label and this year managed to reach the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart with Janet Jackson’s new album “Unbreakable”.

BMG is presenting itself as an alternative to the ‘status quo’, as US President Creative & Marketing Laurent Hubert stated: “BMG is approaching the record business with the same ambition and sense of purpose we have brought to the music publishing business. Artists are not happy with the status quo, and many of them find BMG’s core values of fairness, transparency and service very attractive indeed. The success of Janet Jackson demonstrates there is now no level or genre of artist which is beyond our reach.”

S-Curve founder Steve Greenberg said, “We’re excited to begin the next chapter of the S-Curve Records story working within BMG. As a small indie who have had significant success in pop music, we are looking forward to joining forces with BMG, a company that combines an indie sensibility with the resources to amplify our success.”
