Bruce Springsteen to play "Saturday Night Live" in December

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be performing on Saturday Night Live in December. The Boss will make just his third appearance on the sketch comedy show when he and his legendary band serve as musical guests for the December 19th episode.

Springsteen -- who is set to release the box set "The Ties That Bind: The River Collection" on December 5. Former SNL regulars Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are confirmed as the hosts. 

Springsteen announced his appearance on Twitter on Nov. 17.
