Facebook Messenger adds Spotify support, but it's not that easy to find

Facebook has announced support for Spotify right in its Messenger app, making it easier to share songs whilst chatting with friends.

The integration, within the iOS and Android version of Messenger, is found by going to the “more” tab, signalled by three dots at the bottom right of the chat window (in the iOS version, at least).

Whilst the feature is a great addition, when going to the “more” tab on Messenger there are lots and lots of of services that can be selected (ever heard of ClipDis, Cleo, Bitmoji, Heyo, Selfied?). These are alphabetised, and so the Spotify name is pretty far down the list requiring some determined scrolling in the knowledge that the Spotify icon is sitting down there.

This is a shame as it doesn't seem likely that most Messenger users who don't use the "more" tab on a regular basis will ever find out about the integration.

In addition, it doesn’t seem like Facebook Messenger is smart enough to place the services you do use at the top of the list, which makes the experience quite fiddly if used on a regular basis.

There is a lot to be said for an easy way to share music with friends via Facebook, however Facebook should probably add a way for users to select in the app’s setting the additional options they actually want to see.
