Midem announces keynote by Warner/Chappell’s Jon Platt and songwriter Justin Tranter

Midem has announced a new keynote conversation between the Chairman and CEO of Warner/Chappell Jon Platt and the songwriter Justin Tranter.

This is likely the last keynote announcement for the 50th edition of Midem given that the conference is due to begin on the 3rd of June in Cannes, France.

Tranter and Platt will talk the role of publishers in today’s business and how they can foster the growth of a vibrant community of songwriters.

Over the past three years Tranter has penned tracks for Nicole Scherzinger, Fall Out Boy, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber (the inescapable “Sorry”) and Gwen Stefani.

Jon Platt stated: “The nurturing of songwriters and the creative community is not only at the core of music publishing, but at the heart of our entire business. Justin Tranter is a phenomenal talent, and I look forward to joining with him to talk about how songs are born and shaped, the role of publishers in the business today, and how supporting a vibrant, collaborative creative community is the focus of everything we do at Warner/Chappell.”

The conversation between Tranter and Platt will take place on Saturday the 4th of June.
