Spotify takes another step towards a long-rumoured IPO

Music streaming giant Spotify has been rumoured, for a while, to be about to make the first sale of stock to the public. And the IPO seems nearer and near, especially after "Billboard" reported that the company hired Paul Vogel, most recently the senior Internet Analyst and Head of Internet and Media Research Team for Barclays.

"Billboard" comments:

Add to that Vogel's tech experience as CFO of shopping startup OpenSky and Vogel's bona fides to lead Spotify's imminent public offering become clear.

Spotify's most recent financial filing showed revenue growth accelerating over the past year, while losses slowed dramatically - without a doubt this is good news for any business on the verge of having to (constantly) prove itself to the wilds of the open market.
