Former Backstreet Boys manager Lou Pearlman dead at 62

Lou Pearlman, former manager and producer of successful boy bands such as Backstreet Boys and 'NSync, died at 62. The music industry entrepreneur passed away while serving a 25-year prison sentence: he was convicted on counts of conspiracy, money laundering and making false statements during a bankruptcy proceeding in 2008.

Pearlman was the maker of the careers of Backstreet Boys and 'NSync, but he also managed LFO, Aaron Carter and girl group Innosense (with a young Britney Spears) throughout his career. He was also the co-creator of the reality television show “Making the Band” and spearheaded the first season (which is where O-Town came about).
