Ron Laffitte (manager of Pharrell Williams, One Republic) leaves Maverick for new venture

Ron Laffitte - manager of Pharrell Williams, OneRepublic and Charlie Puth, among others - is leaving the Maverick Management consortium. He will, from now, run his operation independently, as "Billboard" reported.

The manager has partnered with Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino in a new venture, bringing along his client roster which also includes Temple of the Dog, Backstreet Boys and Chris Cornell.

Laffitte was one of nine managers brought together by Maverick head Guy Oseary (Madonna, U2) in a venture that would share ideas, influence and resources. Launched with fanfare in 2014, the firm has since added Weeknd manager Tony Sal and former Capitol Records EVP Greg Thompson to its ranks, joining such veterans as Larry Rudolph and Adam Leber (Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus), Cortez Bryant and Gee Roberson (Nicki Minaj), Scott Rodger (Paul McCartney, Arcade Fire) and Clarence Spalding (Jason Aldean).
