Mind Music Labs closed funding round of $220k for the Sensus smart guitar

Swedish startup Mind Music Labs successfully closed a seed-funding round of SEK 2m ($220k) for its first product, the Sensus "smart guitar". The funding came courtesy of firms Soläng Invest and Propel Capital as well as existing investor (and “founder of the Bluetooth brand”) Mats Georgson.

This new flow of cash will help Mind Music Labs continue to develop its technology.

The Sensus guitar can be played like a normal guitar, but also includes a built-in digital audio workstation for manipulating its sounds, and an internet connection for sharing performances, as well as streaming tracks to play along with. The product is still out of the market and it is not on sale yet.

CEO Michele Benincaso explained:

Today there are many incredible evolutions happening in music and technology; from VR and AR to interactive performances – but everything is still happening off stage. While on stage, musicians are still using technologies from the 50s. We strongly believe that evolving musical instruments and allowing musicians to seamlessly interact with each other and with their audiences is the key to the next real revolution in the industry.
