Kendrick Lamar's new album also features U2
US rapper Kendrick Lamar will release his (still untitled) next studio album on April 14 and it includes his latest song, “HUMBLE”.
A closer look at the album credits that arrive with the pre-order shows some of the key names involved in the project, including some that weren’t expected. For example: “P. Hewson, D. Evans, A. Clayton & L. Mullen,” better known as U2, are listed as composers on the new album.
It’s unclear whether Kendrick sampled a U2 song or wrote a new song with the band. Pitchfork has reached out to reps for U2 and Kendrick for more information.
The album’s list of composers also features “C. Hansen, A. Sowinski, M Tavares & L. Whitty,” who make up BADBADNOTGOOD. Mike WiLL-Made It (who produced “HUMBLE”), DJ Dahi, Sounwave, 9th Wonder, the Alchemist, and others can also be found on the list. Track 4 notable lists one “J. Blake” as a composer, who could potentially be James Blake.
