Amazon Music adds “activities” to Alexa in the UK

Amazon Music has added a range of new “activities” (their quote marks) in the UK for subscribers to Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited.

This follows a roll out of activities in the US earlier in the month. It has all been triggered by some of the more esoteric voice requests from users and now runs to 500 (what it terms) activity utterances. These include music for meditation and music for working out. It adds that 28% of all activity requests are related to finding music to fall asleep to (that’s why those sleep-centric playlists on services like Spotify are proving such a gold mine) while 16% relate in some way to relaxation.

Given how lazy and sleepy most users appear to be, it’s amazing they can even muster the energy to ask Alexa for music to suit their zoned out/hibernating existence.
