Eventbrite completes acquisition of Ticketfly

Eventbrite has completed its $200m acquisition of ticketing service Ticketfly from Pandora, which was announced earlier this year.

The company says that the combined firms expect to process more than 200m ticket sales globally, representing around $4bn in customer spending.

Ticketfly’s CEO Andrew Dreskin will take up a position heading Eventbrite’s music-ticketing business as part of the deal, with his company having forged relationships with more than 1,800 music promoters and venues in North America already. That’s on top of Eventbrite’s acquisition of European firm Ticketscript earlier this year, as the company ramps up its focus on music alongside other events. Eventbrite says that it, Ticketfly and Ticketscript processed nearly 15m tickets for music concerts and festivals in the first half of 2017. That does show music’s current place in the scheme of things for Eventbrite though: if it were to match that music total in the second half of 2017 (and thus process 30m music tickets this year) while hitting its overall target of 200m tickets processed, that will mean music is around 15% of its overall sales volume.

Still, Eventbrite is bullish about the potential. “Together, Eventbrite and Ticketfly reach nearly 60 million ticket buyers each year and recommend shows to more than 200 million fans on Spotify and Pandora each month,” claimed the company in a blog post.
