NME enters the distribution game, with NME Emerging platform

British music-media brand NME is ready to launch a new service for emerging artists. It's called NME Emerging.

Created via a partnership with TuneCore, it will give artists an “exclusive discount” on distributing their music to streaming services and download stores, while committing to pay them 100% of their royalties.

There’s also a print-on-demand merch store as part of the service, and the promise to put artists in front of the 10 million monthly visitors to NME.com to boost their profile.

Parent company Time Inc’s head of new product development Richard Giddings said that NME Emerging will also be a route to the brand’s editorial team:

If they like what they hear they’ll be writing about them, putting them in the magazine or even inviting them to play a gig.
