RIP The Tragically Hip’s Gord Downie, dead at 53

Sadly, Gord Downie (lead singer of the Tragically Hip, the band he formed in 1984 with Gord Sinclair and Rob Baker) has passed away. He was 53.

In 2016 he was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer: following the announcement he continued to tour with the band and released the Polaris Prize-nominated solo album "Secret Path". Before the Tragically Hip’s final concert in Kingston, Ontario last August, Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau paid tribute to the band and its frontman.

Downie also recently announced "Introduce Yerself", a new double album scheduled for release later this month.
