“Smells Like Teen Spirit”... 144 times!

Everybody knows, by now, that this year marks the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's album "Nevermind", bringing all kinds of celebrations. Well, on October 1st members of Tokyo Police Club, Fucked Up, Woodhands, Gallows, and a bunch of other outfits will cover the album’s groundbreaking single, “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, for 144 times in a row. Yes: they will play the same song 144 times.

The event is called "A Brief History Of Rebellion" and will be hosted by media production-collective-record-label Juicebox; it will run from dusk to dawn in toronto, at the Toronto Underground Cinema. The various bands involved will each have one or two members swing by for a couple rounds during 12-plus-hour event.

The performance is just one of many happenings going down in Toronto that night as a part of Scotiabank Nuit Blanche, a celebration of the arts.
