Billy Corgan wants to hit Broadway

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan wants to write songs for Broadway. The Chicago rockstar is determined to try his way into musical theatre, according to what he recently said to The New York Post.

Smashing Pumpkins are waiting to release their brand new record "Oceania" in 2012, but there's still no official release date. Corgan is currently the only original member of the band.

Talking about Broadway, Corgan stated: "I want to be a better songwriter before I try Broadway and I wouldn't allow one of my old songs [to be used]. If I do Broadway, I'm not coming to write three-chord rock songs".

The Smashing Pumpkins, who recently completed a full UK and European tour, are also strongly rumoured to be in line to play a number of European festivals next summer.
