Sclavunos on Grinderman: "It was a bye bye"

In a new interview with FasterLouder, Grinderman drummer Jim Sclavunos referred to Nick Cave’s announcement of Grinderman being over. the frontman, in fact, during the weekend - at the end of a show - told the crowd: "That’s it for Grinderman. It’s over". These comments led many to believe that the band was breaking up.

According to Sclavunos, these words are "more a bye-bye than an announcement"; he explained that "an announcement would be like a press release, but who knows what will happen in five or 10 years time".

Sclavunos said the members are now fully focused on the new Bad Seeds record, and told the fans: "I don’t think there should be mourning or rending of garments just yet, let’s wait a few years and see what happens. I’m sorry the whole thing’s a bit vague, but we took a long time between Grinderman album’s before but, we have kind of neglected Bad Seeds of late. It’s been about four years since we have done anything and I think it’s high time we made some beautiful music together, again".
