Vasco Rossi: the Italian rock icon goes 60

Maybe in the world is not so famous, but in Italy Vasco Rossi is an institution. Today "Blasco" is celebrating his 60th birthday and Rockol has dedicated to him a photo gallery about his long and successful career.

In all these years, he has been one of the greatest rock singer-songwriters in our country. Vasco Rossi was born in Zocca, near Modena, in 1952. He started to study music when he was a kid. In the '70s he went to Bologna and he was involved in the students protest acts in Bologna, but he has never been a "political" minstrel.

His first record "Jenny/Silvia" is dated 1977, while his last "Vivere o niente" came out in 2011. In the middle there were so many important songs and albums for the italian scene that it's even hard to name them. We can try with a couple of titles, such as "Albachiara", "Senza parole", "Vita spericolata" and "Gli angeli". This last song, in particular, has a deep connection with a famous director, Roman Polanski. The Polish genius was in fact behind the film camera for the videoclip of the song. You can watch right here on Rockol.com via Muzu.tv. Enjoy.

In 2010, Vasco Rossi also recorded a controversial version of the Radiohead's song "Creep". In his version, the track became "Ad ogni costo". Today, the italian Web dedicates a long marathon to his life and career, titled "Vasco Day". You can watch it right here, by following this adress. If you understand italian, of course.
