Blur will play Olympic closing ceremony

More news from the Blur headquarters: the band will perform at the 2012 Olympic closing ceremony celebration concert at London’s Hyde Park on August 12th. Blur will share a prestigious bill with New Order and The Specials.

The Olympic closing ceremony marks the band’s second scheduled performance in 2012; the first will be tonight,when all four members will appear together at 2012 Brit Awards in London. The band will be honoured with the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award and will play an 11-minute set at the end of the ceremony, which is longer then any other recipient of the award has been given.

In the meantime, Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon unveiled a brand new Blur song during a short gig in London on February, 19.
